A Little Piece of History

In 1963, artist Harvey Ball created the now-famous smiley face for an insurance company in Worcester, Massachusetts, to help boost employee morale. He was paid just $45 for the design.

Devotional

Some days smiling comes easily. Other days, it takes a little more faith.

God never asks us to pretend life is easy, but He does remind us that joy can still be found in the middle of ordinary days. Sometimes His goodness shows up in the smallest ways: a kind word, a gentle moment, an unexpected encouragement, or simply a smile.

We never really know what someone else may be carrying. Something that seems small to us may become the little piece of grace they desperately needed that day.

Joy doesn’t mean everything is perfect. Sometimes joy simply says, “This may be hard, but God is still here.”

And sometimes, that’s reason enough to smile.

A Little Grace to Gather

Look for three small reasons to smile today, then pass one along. Smile at someone, give a compliment, send an encouraging message, or remind someone they are seen and valued.

Small things can carry a whole lot of grace. 💛

Prayer

Father, thank You for the little joys You place throughout my day. Help me notice them, especially when life feels heavy. Let my words, kindness, encouragement, and even my smile carry Your love to someone who needs it today. Remind me that no act of love is too small when You are working through it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
